VJ Day, Honolulu Hawaii, August 14, 1945

Posted August 14, 2010 by joe@smartideasonline.com

Dear Joe,
Do you remember this movie I took 65 years ago along Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki capturing the spontaneous celebrations that broke out when people first heard the news of the Japanese surrender? I filmed it using Kodachrome 16mm film. I found still images from this amazing day, in color, at discoveringhawaii.com.
Love,
Dad
